New driving force in the moving industry rolls into town with first
year revenue projections at $50 million
Moving house just got easier for Canadians with the addition of Premiere
Van Lines (Premiere), a new moving company that begins operations today
in 25 key markets. With former moving industry entrepreneur Tim Moore
as CEO, the Mississauga based company is sure to shake up its competitors,
as it vies for market share in three core areas: household moving, office
moving, and international moving.
Thirty independent moving van companies partnered to form Premiere and
are acting as agents for Atlas Van Lines. Previously dissatisfied with
their former franchise chain, these companies were eager to create Premiere
as soon as their franchise contracts expired.
The ownership structure at Premiere is 80 per cent communally owned by
franchisees and 20 per cent by the CEO.
"This is our first day of operations, but Premiere's business foundation
is already well established. On day one, Premiere already has 75 years
of experience and $39 million in revenues," said Tim Moore, CEO,
Premiere Van Lines. "By the end of first year, revenues are projected
to reach $50 million with a year two target set to comfortably exceed
$75 to $100 million."
Mr. Moore added: "My confidence in Premiere is backed by experience.
I grew annual sales at AMJ Campbell to $125 million from $200,000 and
that was working from the ground up. Premiere is committed to becoming
the leading industry player and will get there through hard work and providing
excellent customer service."
The household moving business is approximately a $1 billion a year industry.
To be a profitable player you must be a reliable operation staffed with
good people, otherwise the company will spend more time handling claims
and dealing with problems, which clearly affects the profits and effectiveness
of a company.
"Being entrusted with people's personal belongings is an enormous
responsibility that we take very seriously," said Mr. Moore. "Make
no mistake, there is an art to moving furniture. Premiere will restore
reliability and professionalism to the industry."
The still strong real estate market bodes well for the household moving
division. With the spring real estate market upon us homebuyers and sellers
readying themselves for the big move should consider the following questions
to ensure that they hire a reliable moving company:
- How many branches does the company operate?
- Is the company bonded and insured?
- Does the company offer warehousing?
- Is the warehouse modern, climate controlled and security accessed?
- Is the company a member of a nationally recognized van line?
- Is the company a member of the Canadian Association of Movers?
- Will they provide a written quote?
- Is there a service guarantee?
